MEET CHARLEEN

Aloha! My name is Charleen McDuffie and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Hawaii.

I was born and raised in Japan and moved to Hawaii in 2013. When I'm not working, I enjoy trying out new food places & cafes, reading a good book, traveling, and spending quality time with loved ones!

Therohana was founded to help young adults who are struggling to find their way in life. Therohana combines the words "therapy" and "ohana" together. I wanted to combine these words together because I know that it is important to have a support system around you. Whether it is immediate family members, close friends, a romantic partner, co-workers, or anyone that is important to you. My intentions for the name is to give a friendly approach to therapy as being part of your support system in order for you to heal in safe space. I received my Master's of Counseling Psychology emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at the Chaminade University of Honolulu in 2019, have worked in the mental health field for 4 years servicing the following populations: university students, domestic violence victims and survivors, military service members and veterans ranging from teens to older adults.

I specialize in helping clients struggling with life transitions, anxiety, relationship issues, and navigating negative emotions and mindset. My therapy approach is modern and collaborative. I focus on learning from you and building a safe place for you to share experiences and challenges. My goal is to help you feel supported by utilizing a warm, modern, and culturally sensitive approach to therapy. I love creating a therapeutic environment where people can feel comfortable to share their unique story.
